Sometimes I cringe when I hear somebody say, "So You're a yoga teacher. Why? Because there are so many misperceptions of what a yoga teacher is; or how you're suppose to be if you hold the title of Yoga Teacher. So here's to debunking common myths about Yoga Instructors
Let’s be truthful the Instagram Yogi depicts this personification that you have to be at a certain level and look a certain way to be a yoga instructor. There are so many myths around being a yoga Instructor and I’m here to debunk them .
Myth 1: Yoga instructors have to be super flexible:
🚫🤸🏽♀️Contrary to popular belief, being a yoga instructor doesn’t require extreme flexibility. While flexibility is beneficial, it’s not a prerequisite. Yoga is about finding balance, strength, and mindfulness, regardless of your current flexibility level.
Myth 2: Yoga instructors are always calm and zen:
🚫🧘🏽♀️While yoga promotes inner peace and tranquility, it doesn’t mean yoga instructors are immune to stress or never experience moments of frustration. Just like anyone else, they have their ups and downs. Yoga helps them find balance, but they’re human too! We are forever students.
Myth 3: Yoga instructors have to be vegan or follow a specific diet:
🚫🥗 While some yoga instructors may choose to follow a specific diet, it’s not a requirement. Yoga is about honoring your body and making choices that align with your individual needs and beliefs. There is no one-size-fits-all approach to nutrition in the yoga community.
Myth 4: Yoga instructors are always in perfect shape:
🚫💪🏽Yoga instructors come in all shapes and sizes, and their bodies are a reflection of their unique journeys. Yoga is about self-acceptance and embracing your body as it is. It’s not about achieving a specific body shape or size.
🌟🧘🏽♀️Being a yoga instructor is a rewarding and fulfilling profession, but it’s important to separate fact from fiction. Let’s debunk these common myths and appreciate the diverse and authentic experiences of yoga instructors. 🧘🏽♀️🌟
