Have you ever had this meeting in your head, and you realized that the meeting consists of you and you. You are fighting with you.
As I was going through my run I was reminiscing about the past few years. Of course, the first thought that came to my head was wow just over a year ago your pace was faster than this, "What happened?" then it's like the convo just gets worse. You know you really need to figure out what's going on with you because this run sucks. Then I quickly realized wow Felicia instead of celebrating the fact that you got out of the bed this morning, you laced up your shoes and you did a run you're pulling out all the negative thoughts and things from this run.
How many times have you caught yourself thinking more about your loses than your wins?
I realized wow instead of celebrating the fact that you are showing up today is a WIN. I took a step back and realized just over 3 years ago I couldn't run due to an injury. I didn't know if I was ever going to be able to run. A year after that I was still going through rehab with the thought that just maybe I'll run again. A year after that I underwent abdominal surgery, miscarried a couple months after that. Then this year lost my father. As I went through all of that and realized wow Felicia you ran today. You decided that you wouldn't allow your past, the hurt, the pain, the trauma, the fear, the doubt to overtake you. You showed up today and ran. Then it clicked, "Why am I being so negative to myself?
How many times have you found yourself like this?
What I have come to realize is that this life is a balance of learning how to hold on and how to let go. Sometimes we are doing too much of holding on.
Holding on to the past
Holding on to what we use to be able to
Holding on to how life has treated us so bad.
Holding on to someone who has wronged us.
Holding on to what our bodies were able to do at point.
Holding on to the fear, the doubt
So, ask yourself, when are you going to let go?
When are you going to finally surrender and release the past, release the guilt, release the I should have, release the thought of they did me wrong?
Then the lightbulb went off and I realized wow what is holding me back from moving forward is ME. I'm holding me back because I'm still holding on.
Restoration, new beginnings, new you happen when you finally realized that it's time for you to stop holding on and LET GO!!!
So when will you LET GO!
