Why I decided to start over?

I had someone ask me the other day, what's going on, Fe? Where have you been? My response was I've just been chilling. That is what I've been doing. See, here is the reality we live in a society where you're praised for how much work you're doing. You're commended for overworking yourself, doing 15 things simultaneously, being a great multitasker, etc... But take a step back and ask yourself, When I am in the state of constantly doing, am I performing at my best? Well, I'll tell you my answer was, Nope!

You see growth not only happens in the action of doing but also in being. So how do you know when you need a reset when you need to hit the restart button? Here are vital signs of when to hit the restart button.

  1. You're not motivated to do anything.

This is a critical sign that you are burned out. When you're not feeling motivated, you have to push yourself to do specific tasks. It's your body's way of saying it's time to sit down somewhere. It's time to hit the restart button.

2. When you feel like you have to have all the things to get you going in your day

What does that mean? Have you ever noticed that if you are feeling exhausted, you find yourself having 4-5 cups of coffee instead of having one or two cups of coffee? If you have to over-utilize outside resources to get you going or to help you do a task, that is a sign that your mind, body, and soul are tired. Sis, take a break and hit the restart button.

3. You're easily angry

Have you ever had those moments you start to notice that you're snappy? You're biting people's heads over stupid things, or you're easily frustrated. That is a BIG sign that you are overworked, overtrained, tired, and need to take a break.

4. You're procrastinating a lot

So yes, don't get me wrong, there are times when I procrastinate just because I don't want to do the work, and there are other times I'm procrastinating because I am forcing myself to do something that my mind, body, and soul don't want to do. Are you pushing yourself to do the run or do the task? If you are in a constant state of force, the higher the procrastination will get. Take a step back, rest, reset and restart!

5. Just simply tired

Yep, I said it! You're not happy. You feel run down. You feel like you have all of the numbers 1-4, and it seems like you're just stuck in a rut. That is your mind, body response that enough is enough, and it's time to rest, reset and restart!

Here is the thing our bodies are brilliant. It lets us know when we are doing too much, when we are tired, or when enough is enough. We just have to listen to what our minds and body tell us. Know that it is okay to start over, honestly. Taking time out to be, rest, reset and restart is exactly what our mind and body need every day. Take heed to what your mind and body tell you to do today, and know that it's okay to start over! Starting over means you are starting fresh, and who wouldn't want to have that energizing feeling again!
